ICOPA XII includes multiple Symposia and Workshops focusing on Veterinary and Zoonotic Parasitology, including drug resistance, vaccine and drug development, novel diagnostics, emerging zoonoses, ectoparasites and aquatic parasitology.

There will also be 24 leading speakers presenting in six Workshops under the auspices of “Novel Approaches to the Control of Helminth Parasites of Livestock” held in conjunction with ICOPA XII. These Workshops will be a highlight for veterinary parasitologists.
 
We are delighted that DNDi have agreed to sponsor two Symposia in the areas of  “DNDi model for drug discovery programs of neglected diseases” and “Malaria chemotherapy”. Several keynote speakers will give presentations in these Symposia that will be of broad interest to delegates.
 
Also within the program will be a WHO/TDR sponsored symposia on “Applications of transfection technology for drug screening and immunological studies in tropical parasitic diseases”.
 
There will be a Workshop sponsored by Burroughs Wellcome that will be run by David Roos and Omar Harb on Protozoan Databases. We expect this workshop to be very popular and you can reserve a place by early registration and marking the appropriate tick box.

Local reports indicate that the cost of discount air fares to and from Australia are at record lows, making travel to the ICOPA XII conference more affordable. In part, this is because of the new Virgin airline V Australia which travels across the Pacific and Indian Oceans and has introduced new levels of competition.
